My Snow Dog Pictures...Frozen No Less!
I took some snow dog pictures (Winter 2002-2003) out in the front yard. It had snowed the night before and stayed in cold all week. What began as an effort to build a snowman turned into something entirely different…hence these snow dog sculptures were created!
After having the snowman fall apart several times, I started to make a bigger base for it. However, my imagination ran wild and soon I was out there with kitchen utensils, a bucket to sit on...and very very cold fingers.
Agh!
The first dog sculpture was of the English Mastiff. It was quite a hit with the neighborhood. It even got into the local newspaper. A day later, I decided to have a try at creating another dog sculpture, also shown in these snow dog pictures. The German Shepherd was soon sculpted. And believe me, getting those legs to hold him up was not easy!
But it was fun…so that’s what counts.
This snow dog picture was actually chosen to be featured in the Helping Hands Medical Relief Fund Calander. The dog’s name is Bogart, but the snow sculpture was dubbed “Snowgart”.
As you can see, he’s not sure what to make of it all.
Bogart was also the subject, nice enough to pose for some of the paintings of
English Mastiffs.
I couldn’t resist showing the snow dog picture when they started to melt. Apparently, nature had a hand in creating some modern art.
Finally, this is my German Shepherd Bailey and me in this picture.
Bailey and I are real pals. We've been hiking all over the place, including Alaska...which was an incredible trip!
