About the Artist

Throughout my life, art has been a creative outlet: drawing, painting, and music. I grew up in a musical family, starting piano lessons at the age of 8. Today, I continue my Classical and Jazz piano study as it is still important to me. Oddly enough, for several years I even made my living by playing gigs, parties, and at Union Square in San Francisco. During my teens and college years, I was also a competitive swimmer. Too bad I’m not as in good of shape as I was then!

However, my efforts to handle two dogs in Conformation are finally forcing me to get in shape. Whew! They’ll take a lot out of ya...maybe I’ve been sitting in front of my canvases too long, painting for hours and hours and hours.

As for having musicians and artists on both sides of the family, being an artist just seemed the natural course…although, as you’ll read later, I had to figure that one out the hard way.

My grandfather is quite an accomplished artist, having taught me many of the techniques I now use with oil painting. I also learned to draw from my Mom. My parents and siblings have always been supportive, and since they are quite accomplished too, they’ve got a good eye....there's no foolin' them!

Funny enough, as a child I was always getting in trouble in school because I insisted on drawing during valuable class time. Alas, I do have a stubborn streak (sigh). However, I was not to be deterred and I finally managed to channel it constructively. After completing a degree in Business at Regis University in Denver, Colorado, I created

An artist with a business degree?
Now there’s a new one!

After searching long and hard, meeting good people like myself, who worked hard for little reward with absolutely no stability whatsoever, I finally came to the realization that it was time to change my direction.

The moral of the story is: Work for yourself!

Now I'm a starving artist! (chuckles)

What Can Dog-Paintings-and-Pictures Do For You?

Hey! You love dogs, just like me.

And you'll be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't like art, or at the very least, doesn't like to enjoy their decorations.

That's why dog-lovers all over can really use quality artwork and collectable prints to reflect that love of their pets. There’s a lot of good stuff out there; some of it even displayed on this site…

However, I really do believe that people deserve to have quality art that they will continue to enjoy for years to come. And it should reflect your interests: Your Love of Dogs

So brightened up your walls with great Dog Art!

You have my personal guarantee that my artworks are quality, they are not cheap and sloppy, but they won’t break the bank either. In fact,...

you'll pay far less than most companies pay for mass-produced prints that people forget to look at.

Most of all, art should reflect what you love. And since we all love dogs, why shouldn’t we have great dog art?

Finally, I sincerely hope that you enjoy this site. While much of the art here is for sale (so you too may proudly display it in your own home or business) you should feel absolutely no obligation whatsoever. Art is such a subjective thing and who in their right mind actually likes to be sold?!

So go ahead and continue to surf these dog pages and enjoy paintings, pictures, and drawings...and all the other stuff I’ve written. It will continue to grow as I add more dog breeds and fun stuff.

That is what Dog-Paintings-and-Pictures.com is here for.

Sincerely,

(N.Van Duren)
