Who's This Handsome Fella in this Mastiff Picture?
Here's a Brindle Mastiff picture was recently finished for a real nice lady on the East Coast. It was done in oil and came with it's very own Certificate of Authenticity. She was actually one of the winners of a Medical Relief Fund set up for Mastiffs. I painted a Mastiff painting for each one of the winners.
There are Two Cute Dogs in this English Mastiff Picture
English Mastiff and Puppy, painting by Nick Van Duren
This English Mastiff Picture shows two mastiffs layin' around, waitin' to go outside. Due to the size of the English Mastiff, it's not unusual to see them blocking the doorway!
When it comes to dog art, many people have a love of both painting and drawing. Speaking of which...

This Mastiff Really IS A Member Of The Family
While painting this picture, I wanted to demonstrate just how “human-like” the English Mastiff really is. Naturally, he’s on the couch!
While hanging on the couch is not the ideal behavior for your English Mastiff, you’ll soon find yourself taking one Mastiff picture after another in this pose. It’s inevitable…
The funny thing is: This English Mastiff knows it!
It never ceases to amaze me how this breed has such a rich history. The English Mastiff has been a guardian, a war dog, and a faithful companion. Today, you will most likely not see the Mastiff lying out by the moat, guarding the castle, however, you can easily picture a Mastiff blocking the doorway, waiting for you to come by and scratch him behind the ear.
An English Mastiff picture should convey just that: gentle and loyalty…but protective when necessary. It’s hard not to fall in love with this breed.

I’ve found that, contrary to popular opinion, the Mastiff may take up a lot of room in your car, but they really aren’t too bad in the home. And as an extra bonus:
They never mind serving as a make-shift foot rest while you watch TV.

This second Mastiff picture shows a younger fawn English Mastiff around 6-7 months old. He’s content just sitting there in a field. Unfortunately, it’s rare to see this age painted. I think too many artists neglect painting this age primarily because the head is not entirely formed, and often they’re awfully lanky due to growing so fast.
However, it’s a charming age. They’re like teenagers, trying to find themselves, occasionally misbehaving, but coming back and keeping you laughing. So here it is.
This third Mastiff painting is of a brindle mastiff. He’s laying here on the cool grass, once again…content. He’s got that inquisitive look, as if he’s asking:
“Is that a big steak you’re cookin’ up for me?!”
In the end, you just want to join him on the grass and wrestle with him. Guess who will be covered with slobber when you’re done?
