The Ever Popular Golden Retriever Picture
This Golden Retriever picture has a subject that is similar to another Labrador painting on the Labrador Retriever picture page. He’s doing something that ideally, the dog shouldn’t be doing…but he’s resting.
So we won’t disturb him. ;)
It's a beautiful Golden Retriever picture really. The use of reflecting light off the fur gives that warmth and feeling of comfort inherent in a well-crafted Golden Retriever picture. It's the type of Golden Retriever picture that you'd be proud to display in your den or home office, even the living room, for that matter.
I’ve included this one because it’s a different style of Golden Retriever picture. I haven't had the opportunity to actually paint a Golden Retriever picture myself (YET!), nor in this particular style, but I really do appreciate its quality and feel.
What's more, when you consider that a lot of people appreciate a more of a “modern” approach (whatever that means!) it’s important to include this Golden Retriever picture as a different type of stylistic approach. Quite frankly, I like it...which is the ultimate criterea for choosing good art. Either way, it’s the kind of Golden Retriever picture that would look good in a lot of people’s homes.
So what does the Golden Retriever do? Of course…he retrieves! This Golden Retriever picture is really nice because it shows what this breed was originally meant for. They’ve got ducks on the mind, I’ll tell ya!
Notice the expression in this Golden Retriever picture. You can't help but smile!...or wag your tail. ;)
The funny thing about this next Golden Retriever picture is that they probably have ducks foremost on their minds, but are simply resting…or waiting, as it would be.
They almost look like they are anticipating something in this Golden Retriever picture, but resting and trying not to show it!
Both of these paintings also include really skillful landscapes. And most people are always fond of landscapes, which accounts for their popularity in stores and why they are a favorite subject among many artists around the world. The great thing about these two is that they have both beautiful landscapes, but each Golden Retriever picture also contains this wonderful breed. It’s a great combination, incredible skill, and (of course) a fantastic subject manner. ;)
One last thing about this Golden Retriever picture, notice the water in the river background. The highlights really make it come to life. Another thing that is often overlooked, is the grass. It's not the dominant focus of the Golden Retriever picture, of course, but the contrast and definition add sharpness. It's a wonderful affect. it makes me want to have a picnic on this beautiful riverbank.
Take a good look at the coloring in this Golden Retriever picture entitled, appropriately: “Fall Guys”. The artist (Nigel Hemming) has done a really clever thing in using Autumn colors to really accent the Golden Retriever picture. What’s more, the beautiful reflection in the water, the fallen leaves along the path, and the quaint house hiding in the background, gives that special feel of this wonderful time of year; long sleeves and coats, the nostalgic smoky smell in the air coming from someone’s fireplace, the long shadows...and of course, beautiful subjects in the Golden Retriever picture!
The artist expertly portrays these elements to create an incredible Golden Retriever picture and landscape. He’s also done quite a few other paintings included at All Posters.com, in addition to black labs. They’re definitely worth viewing…especially if you’re looking for a quality Golden Retriever picture.
Shhh…
The artist has done a really nice job of getting the light reflecting off of these sleeping beauties. I know from painting other dogs, getting that light quality just right really makes the difference between a great painting and a mediocre one. In fact, sometimes I’ve had to completely rework a painting for this very reason…you stand back and say to yourself: “Ya know? Something is just not working here. What is it?”
So you figure it out, solve it, work it, and rework it, until it all comes together. This is especially the case with close-ups such as this Golden Retriever picture. You simply can’t hide anything or fake it. Portraiture has the same challenge. It’s so up-close and personal that you don’t always have the luxury of using “illusion” to pull it off, especially with a style of painting such as this Golden Retriever picture. It’s also a challenge for creating a really nice Golden Retriever photo.
