The English Bull Dog Puppy...way too cute for it's own good
There are two puppies is this English Bull Dog puppy picture. They’ve got that look that says: “You want some of this?!”

A Bull Dog puppy can be quite mischievous…but then again, aren’t most puppies? ;)
Ahhh...not so with this little feller. He looks so innocent to be sure. Or is he just hiding something?

This drawing was done much lighter and on Bristol smooth finish paper. He was created with a different technique than the two cuties above, thus making him much softer...if not downright cuddly!
English Bull Dog Puppy Painting
…actually, there are multiple puppies in this one.
What I’m going to do here is put up each phase on each day as it is being worked on. So STAY TUNED and watch how it progresses…it’s kind of fun. I hope you’ll enjoy watching how each Bull Dog puppy develops in this oil painting...
Phase 1
Hopefully seeing each phase of the Bull Dog puppy picture won’t spoil the surprise. However, it’s interesting to see how a painting progresses…or regresses! Yes, sometimes things do not always go as planned and you have to fix, and fix,…and fix!
If you’re an artist yourself, hopefully you’ll get something out of seeing this. If you don’t painting, but you’re a dog-art lover nonetheless, hopefully you appreciate seeing each phase of how I do a painting.
Most of the colors in for each English Bull Dog puppy are done in Burnt Sienna and Burnt Umber. That’s usually how I begin each painting: it gives you a starting point.
At this stage, I went ahead and added a few colors, namely the big yellow ball that the two puppies are eagerly chasing. Ahhh...puppies and toys!
The white English Bull Dog puppy in front is kind of the “odd man out”, so to speak; not playing with the dog toys or in the blankets within the basket behind.
The baby blue color makes it look, well…“babyish”!
Stay tuned for the next phase, which will be up shortly.
Wait a minute!
Here it is...
Phase 2
More detail and more layers of color are added. Blending is more focused and a lot of corrections are made. Compare this one with Phase 1 and you'll see what I mean.
However...there is still quite a bit to do. So on to Phase 3.
And Here It Is!
