AB1634 Mandatory Spay/Neuter is Destructive
AB1634, the so-called California Healthy Pets Act is a destructive and harmful piece of legislation.
Is this the type of pet ownership that California Lawmakers are willing to vote for? Let's hope not!
Could you blame anyone for fleeing such persecution? No responsible pet owner would stand for it.
It is sad to think that in this day and age, this type of force, fear, and intimidation is actually acceptable as public policy. It will most certainly lead to a much lessened open and active environment for all pet owners and communities, not just directed at the highest level, ie. Fanciers.
Spay/Neuter is a choice. Period!
And most pet owners already do spay and neuter! So why write a law which would undermine that success story?! What's more, it will create more problems of irresponsible pet ownership than you can possibly imagine; simply because of the hindering of an open and active pet-friendly community. When pet-owners feel they must hide, keep a low profile, move away, or hold grudges against Animal Control and lawmakers, all sorts of problems can and WILL be created.
Most people are not aware of what is truly going on here. There is a real bad agenda that is being promoted. Make no mistake, there is a devious strategy behind why some of the most influential shelter activists are lobbying for this agenda-driven bill: money, power, and a the institutionalization of a sick animal rightist philosophy.
Let us hope they bit off more than they can chew and reforms will be forced upon them.
Please, everyone...we need to get up and fight like we've never fought before. They must not be allowed to get away with this harmful agenda. This truly is a major turning point which will define the future health of our dogs.
AB1634 will harm the home breeder, who endeavors to produce healthy pets of great temperament. The time, effort, and expense to achieve this is unbelievable. Health testing, temperament testing, medical expenses, showing, record-keeping; it is all very labor-intensive, all to further create these incredible pets for the future.
Can you imagine what will happen when such a culture of fear harms responsible pet owners who breed at the highest level? The future health of pets truly is at risk and considering that the general public already spays and neuters successfully, AB1634 will undermine that. It really makes you wonder: What kind of person or group would lobby for hindering and destroying everything that is good, decent, and takes years to achieve? Read on...
The Shocking Truth:
What most lawmakers do not know is that the shelter industry (and it has become quite an industry) transfers dogs all over the place, often auctioning them for top dollar; they destroy anything that doesn't have enough "shelf life", isn't lucrative enough, or gets sick in their care or during importation-travel.
If they really cared about solving the problem, rather than adhering to a very dangerous and harmful philosophy, they'd be turning their attention towards increasing adoption rates. They should be lobbying to get rid of laws that create limits on household pets. That would increase adoption rates and also provide for a more open and active pet-friendly community...not to mention more cooperation between the public and Animal Control.
Instead, they've willfully chosen to set their sites set on us. Now why would they be doing something like that anyway?
Lawmakers need to start turning their attention towards the animal rightist-infiltrated shelter industry. That is where the problems are coming from; it is NOT coming from the main-stream pet-owning public.
While most shelterists are trying to do a good job, there are always those who mess it up. An alarming amount of problems such as interstate and international importation of animals is taking place without safeguards and accountability. Lawmakers need to start forcing these particular activists to start being accountable. If they are not held accountable, than other agendas such as AB1634, the California Healthy Pets Act (Mandatory Spay/Neuter) will continue to do harm to responsible pet ownership.
If we really want to get to the truth of the matter, than this is what AB1634, the so-called California Healthy Pets Act should read like!
"In the Interest of preserving the health and well-being of future pets
and responsible pet ownership, championing an open and active
pet-friendly community, and to set the record straight, the STATE OF CALIFORNIA
will turn the attention to the real problem.
The STATE hereby dictates that the ANIMAL SHELTER INDUSTRY will report
the following:
• How many animals were transferred/imported (number of times)? (How many times was it counted?)
• Did the State of California pay for transfer, importation, AND euthanization?!
• How many animal sick from Transfer, Facilities, Care, or all of the above?
• Reason for euthanization (be specific…please explain yourself!)
• Was animal relinquished as an older dog or a puppy? (Be truthful)
• Price of required donation/applicable changes to price for sale/adoption
• How many dogs were sold at auction or by lottery?
• Selling strategy-was the sale based upon the “overpopulation myth”?
• Primary Goal (politics or health of animals?)
• How many Animal Rights Extremists “work” within shelter (are they intact?)
All reporting subject to audit and readily available to the public. False reporting
subject to Felony Prosecution and Civil Penalties. Furthermore, the State of California
recognizes the difficulty, time, and money required for the Home Breeder to produce
healthy dogs of good temperament. Breeder permitting and regulation will hinder
and destroy responsible pet ownership…so quit banking on that fact!
The State will leave pet owners alone as they already do a fantastic job!"
What I find despicable is that there are so many who are using AB1634, banking on the destruction of the future of responsible pet ownership and its success at self-determination and accountability. There is a well-organized collusion between animal rightist organizations and those activists in the animal shelter industry. If you search animal shelter websites, you'll see links to all sorts of animal rightist organizations. Shelters have become a virtual breeding ground for animal rights extremism...
While some in the shelter industry are endeavoring to do good work, there are too many that have become jaded and have chosen to adopt the philosophy and practice of animal rights extremism. In fact, it is unbelievable how many shelters actually opposed the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act! Hmmmmm....Since when did animal rights terrorism become a free speech issue for these people?!
However, let it be known, these are the kind of activists that are pushing for AB1634, the so-called California Healthy Pets Act...a VERY UNHEALTHY ACT INDEED!!!
Be very aware of what kind of agendas these particular animal shelterists are marketing.
Most of the general public is unaware of the facts, but an alarming number of animal shelters are acting like some of the most lucrative "pet shops" around. Who would have known?!
Rather than putting themselves out of business (as they claim they should be doing) they're searching for new "product". When they find a pure bred, they do everything to get top dollar. Complaints by reputable Pure Bred Rescue Organizations are common; when a pure bred does find its way into the shelter system, Rescues often find it difficult to get them out. Many of these shelters are making it increasingly difficult, to the detriment of responsible pet ownership.
Obviously, breeders are not the problem as pure bred breeders are accountable to their clubs, their communities, their national organizations, their competitors, and to their peers...not to mention accountable to those who buy their incredible pets. Fanciers take care of any problems we may discover.
It is not the mainstream public and Fanciers who are moving animals around without accountability. It is the shelter industry; claiming "overpopulation" when it only exists in very few areas. That is where the problem really is. Could AB1634 simply be a diversion so lawmakers don't begin turning their attention towards what the animal shelter industry has been getting away with?
Shame on these activists for claiming that AB1634 is even close to being a "California Healthy Pets Act"!
The question is, why did California Assembly Member Lloyd Levine's begin this obsession of his in the first place? He just can't let it go of his so-called "California Healthy Pets Act AB1634?
Levine should always be an example to other lawmakers how bad policy should never be a pursuit...
Did he choose this because he really is so obsessed with AB1634; or was he ignorant of the consequences of AB1634? Was he merely used by the extremist animal rightist lobby and couldn't find a way out of it? I suppose we'll never know. How sad.
California Pet Owners will need to give him the boot in the next election.
Ah ha!!!! Assembly Member Levine Miscalculated with AB1634. Neither he nor his animal rights activist buddies had any idea that the pet-owning public and the pet Fancy (Fanciers) would fight back as hard as they are. And so they should. After all, we are the ones who are on the side of what is good and decent.
Now Responsible Pet Owners everywhere are telling Levine to "Snip It!"
After all, why would anyone choose a destructive policy as AB1634 most certainly is, when there are so many positive resources to be found?
CA AB1634 MUST NOT BECOME LAW, nor should it inspire local communities around the country to follow this same destructive path. No good can come of it.
